For those interested, this page contains a summary of the tools and technologies used behind the scenes to produce this weblog.

Infrastructure. This weblog is based on a combination of Movable Type, and custom PHP. PHP is used simply to allow some site-wide variable definitions, and to allow some dynamic behavior, such as the detection of the current page to drive the navigation highlighting, and random serving of the masthead images.

Computing.I almost exclusively use Apple computers, running the MacOS X operating system. I use a dual-G5 desktop machine for most of my work, and use a 12” Powerbook when I’m on the move.

Process. I use TextMate for editing of files, Photoshop for editing and production of images, Transmit to automagically upload my local files to the right place on the server, and both MarsEdit and Ecto for management of the weblog content. The photo galleries on the site are driven by the fantastic SlideShowPro.

Photography. Nearly all the photos used on this site were taken by my Canon PowerShot S500. I use the excellent iView Media Pro software for management of the photos on the computer.
